Mission: Bud Blooming

Last Saturday, Mello arrived at my house bearing buds... as in flower buds. It was a sweet gesture on his part but nonetheless, what he gave me were buds!!! Our household helper even teased me how nice the wrapper of the flower was... do take note that only the wrapper was praised and not the flower itself.

Not wanting to embarrass my boyfriend's flower giving abilities, the goal to make the buds bloom was set! I heard somewhere that diluting aspirin in the water helps extend the life of flowers in a vase. Wanting to put this suggestion to the test, I bought a few tablets of aspirin to start my experiment. As such, I found myself daily cutting the flower stem, changing its water then diluting a crushed tablet of aspirin in it. After a few days, the biggest bud finally bloomed. Our helper even took back her jest a few days back when she saw how nice the flower turned out to be. All it took was my tender loving effort and care... plus a couple of aspirins. :)
